Independent mold inspection service in Austin, TX. Mold is often the visible symptom of a moisture problem.
01
ATX Mold Solutions provides independent mold inspection and testing in Austin for homeowners, property managers, commercial property owners and restoration professionals who need more than a basic test result.
02
We identify elevated moisture, assess the affected areas and provide practical recommendations based on the conditions inside the property. When remediation is required, we develop a clear, detailed protocol that helps qualified contractors understand exactly what needs to be addressed.
03
With decades of construction and property restoration experience behind every assessment, you receive useful information—not vague findings, unnecessary alarm or a report that leaves you wondering what to do next.
Serving Austin, Lakeway, Bee Cave, Georgetown, Round Rock, Pflugerville, Leander, Kyle, Buda and surrounding Central Texas communities.
Mold is the symptom, but moisture is the cause.
A mold inspection should do more than confirm if mold is present. It should help determine where moisture is coming from, which materials may be affected and what must happen to correct the problem.
ATX Mold Solutions approaches each property as a building system. We combine visual assessment, professional moisture-detection equipment, targeted sampling when appropriate and years of hands-on restoration knowledge to develop a more complete picture of the conditions.
That means looking past the stain on the wall or the odor in the room. Hidden leaks, plumbing failures, roof damage, condensation, elevated humidity and improperly dried building materials can all contribute to mold growth.
By identifying the underlying moisture conditions, we help property owners make better decisions and reduce the risk of addressing the symptom while overlooking the cause.
Independent assessments without remediation sales
In Texas, mold assessment and mold remediation are separate, regulated activities. A Mold Assessment Consultant evaluates the property and, when necessary, prepares the mold remediation protocol. A Mold Remediation Contractor performs the work described in that protocol.
ATX Mold Solutions provides assessment and consulting services only. We do not sell mold remediation, so our recommendations are not influenced by the potential value of a remediation project.
Our responsibility is to document the conditions accurately, explain the findings clearly and help you determine the appropriate next step.
A mold inspection service backed by real restoration experience
ATX Mold Solutions was founded by Michael Herbst, an Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC)-approved instructor with decades of experience in building construction and property restoration.
Michael has trained restoration professionals, advised national contracting networks and supported complex residential and commercial projects, including large-scale hurricane response efforts. He has also served on IICRC technical and exam-review committees, including the Building Moisture Inspection Committee.
That experience brings a contractor-informed perspective to every Austin mold inspection. Michael understands how buildings get wet, how materials dry, and what remediation contractors need from a protocol to estimate and complete the work efficiently.

Not every visible mold condition requires sampling. In many cases, identifying the moisture source and determining the extent of affected materials are more important than simply confirming that mold exists. Testing recommendations should be based on the circumstances of the property.
